I love this notion that decisions are like portals that can take us into our best possible life. But it's very easy to betray ourselves in the decisions that matter most for the sake of doing what we think we should be doing, what would please others most, what would make less of a mess. But no one can tell you what you most deeply want to do. Only you can figure that out for yourself. So here are three ways to make decisions by figuring out what you think the right path for you is. No. 1 is identifying which decision would be the most expansive and which would be the most shrinking. For example, if you're at a crossroads and you kind of want to start putting yourself out there, but you're afraid, you're not sure, you've got so many doubts and fears stopping you. You can identify that making the decision to push past and put yourself out there anyway would be the decision that would probably lead to you expanding, growing. While deciding based on all the doubts and all the things that are scary about it is a direction that's going to shrink you and kind of keep you where you are. So this is one decision-making tool, asking yourself which of these directions is the most expansive and making that decision. No. 2 is learning to recognize what intuition feels like in your body and what it's telling you. Intuition is such a powerful tool because very often your body knows what the best path for you would be before your brain is able to process and put together all the signals. There's a certain feeling in your body that is intuition and another feeling that is anxiety. And we often mistake anxiety for intuition, but it's not the same. Anxiety is a voice of fear, while intuition comes from the wisdom that your body and your brain has collected. We can learn to notice what those two feel like to be able to identify when is it actually my intuition and when is it my using using those intuitive signals to lead ourselves to the best decision. And finally No. 3 is when you're identifying which decision would be made based on love and which one would be made based on fear. And then choosing the one that comes from love for yourself. For example, when you're choosing a career or debating whether you should stay in a relationship and you've got all these possible paths, it's so hard to identify what you really deeply want the most. You can often dig deeper by asking yourself, which of these decisions am I leaning towards only because I'm afraid of what would happen if I choose the other one? And then choose the other decision. Which decision would I make if I did it out of the most love for myself and for my future and my well-being and make that one.
