I've been thinking about sequels and I can only think of 10 movies. And here is that list. Before I get into the official list, there are two movies that are awesome and I'm sure you're expecting them to be on the list, but they are not. And that's T2, Aliens. All right, let's get into it at the 10 spot. A movie that I don't love, but is definitely a better version of the first movie and that's Extraction 2. Extraction 2 is a 90 mile per hour fastball. You know exactly what you're getting. You're getting a bigger budget and a cooler long take action sequence than the first movie. It's just a better version of Extraction 1. The rest of these movies are in no particular order. I think all of them are great sequels. One is not my favorite sequel ever. Just want to throw that out there. With that said, at my nine spot, I think Toy Story 2 is better than Toy Story 1. I'd actually say that Toy Story 2 is the best Toy Story period. At my eight spot, I know a lot of people are going to disagree with me, but I remember loving this movie when it came out and I still love it and still watch it to this day. I think Anchorman 2 is better than the original. That movie had no business being as good as it is. But I think I'm done with controversy for the next seven movies. I think that everyone is going to agree or at least understand these picks and starting with Mad Max Fury Road. I'm not saying it's my favorite, but I think I could make a case that Mad Max Fury Road is the best legacy sequel I've ever seen. It is without a doubt the best action movie I have ever seen. At six, give me The Dark Knight. I'm not a big Batman Begins guy, but even if you are, I think you can agree that The Dark Knight is definitely better. At five, give me Dune Part 2. This is pretty self-explanatory. Dune Part 1 is really good, but Dune Part 2, another level. One of the coolest theater experiences I've ever had. At four, not only do I think Across the Spider-Verse is better than Into the Spider-Verse, I think Across the Spider-Verse is the best comic book movie of all time. At number three, I have the movie that made me become a movie nerd and that's Blade Runner 2049. I always thought the Blade Runner universe was untouchable and no one could do a sequel justice, but Denis Villeneuve proved me wrong. At two, I've got Top Gun Maverick. I just went back to the theaters for the 40 year anniversary of the original and after watching it again, I can confirm Maverick is still the better movie. But at my one spot, clearing away the best sequel that is better than the original is Empire Strikes Back.
