I wish that movie theater chains would create a membership not about maximizing your dollar, but about maximizing your experience. Don't get it twisted, I see the value of something like AMC A-List. If you go to the movies a bunch of time, of course it makes sense to get that because you get to watch as many as you want for one locked in price each month. But as someone that goes to the movie theaters all the time, it's never the expense of seeing a movie that gives me anxiety, it's the environment. I know when a theater has a discount day, I don't know when some assholes are going to show up to the theater and ruin my movie. But again, don't get it twisted, I love seeing movies with other people around, sharing that event with other people. I just hate when they don't give a shit about the movie that I'm watching. Like I don't want the 15 year old next to me with meta glasses just making six seven jokes the whole time. I want to share it with people that care. So, something that is more appealing to me than AMC A-List would be something like paying $15 a month to see members only screenings. I can already picture it, like you have some kind of QR code on your phone and you have to buzz in to the theater, so you can't get in unless you have this membership. And if you are an asshole on your phone or distracting everyone and you get reported one too many times, boom, you get your membership revoked and then that person can't bother the rest of the crew anymore. I've come to the realization that people are going to be on their phones watching a movie on the big screen, people are going to talk, people are going to whisper, people are always going to be a distraction and that's just going to continue to get worse. I think that a membership like this would help combat that, but also help recapture the magic of seeing a movie on the big screen.
