I'm currently experiencing an ocular migraine where I can't see out of this part of my vision and I wanted to share with you guys a couple of tips that I do when this happens that I've researched and they can actually help. The first time I got one of these I thought I might be having a stroke or a brain tumor and it was terrifying but these days they happen every now and then and I just have to deal with it. Number one, I turn all of the lights in my office to a dim green. As we've covered in previous videos, green light is the least triggering to the parts of the brain that can get overloaded and sensitized when you're having a migraine. So it produces the least stimulus but also the green wavelength in particular around the 520 nanometer range triggers a system that is probably evolved due to nature exposure where that wavelength of light triggers a production of sort of endogenous opioids in the brain that help lower pain signals. So there have been studies showing that sitting in a dimly lit green room can actually help lower the frequency and severity of migraines and maybe help reduce it during an attack. The problem is I'm very busy and like to still get work done. So if I can see out of the front part of my vision, I generally will avoid using my computer but I can still get work done on my phone. However, the phone produces all this pesky blue and colored light. So I open up my iPhone, go to accessibility and display and text size. Go down to where it says color filters. See all those nice filters? Well, select green and presto, your phone is only producing green light and you can even reduce the brightness and now it's as if your phone itself is part of the migraine treatment.
