I'm 25 years old with over 100k saved and invested. These are some items I used to want but didn't buy and how much money it saved me. Starting off with these Repetto ballet heels. I originally wanted these because I saw Lily Rose Depp wearing them, which is a classic example of you look up to someone so you kind of get influenced by what they were. I still think they're beautiful, well-made purchase, but I couldn't bring myself to spend £330 on a pair of shoes. Yes, they're on vintage, but the point is I no longer want them. Number two, this Loewe puzzle bag. I used to watch so many fashion YouTubers and they all had this bag. I always thought that this bag would be the bag that I would have in my 20s/30s and that would be a sign that I was sophisticated. I can still appreciate premium price point. I own other bags, £3.6k is quite a lot and I'm glad I no longer want this. Number three is a Chanel card holder. In my last video I mentioned that I always wanted a Chanel bag and that I always felt that this was the way that I could buy into the brand at a cheaper price point. That's exactly what the retailer intends. They make small leather goods so they can reach a larger audience and actually are really targeted with the middle class with these purchases. Instead, I've got a £60 one that I use religiously and I don't need to spend £500 on a card holder. Next, I always wanted one of those Cartier Love bracelets. Kylie Jenner, popularised them on social media, but I'd always see rich girls wearing a stack of these and a few other brands. It's not like I don't like the look of them, people that wear them today, I would admire them, but I can never tell whether they're real or fake. The fun fact is Cartier actually couldn't tell themselves just by looking. So why is it worth paying £3.6k for an item that is fake or real? In the end, I'm glad I couldn't afford the item at the start and now I don't want them. No. Number five, I wanted a pair of Ganni cowboy boots. I always aspired to own something like this because all the cool girls on Instagram had them back in the day. I mean, when I originally wanted them, they were like £300, £400. But now they're going for around £600. Overall, these items total £8,250. I'm going to relate it to investing in the stock market. So assuming an average annual return of 10% and I'm investing for 5 years, at the end, I'd have £13,287. But if I waited and waited 15 years, I'd have £16,594. So the point of this video isn't to tell you to buy nothing. I still like to buy things, but it does show you that a lot of these purchases were usually made out of trying to signal status. I wasn't buying them because I was seeing a genuine use of them in my life. I know I could get some of these things secondhand or cheaper, but the point still stands that I no longer want them.
