You'll work closely with mechanical engineers to translate requirements into production-ready designs. Required Skills: Proficiency in electrical and layout software (like KiCad) Strong understanding of fundamentals: power/ground Basic knowledge of JTAG, JESD204B, LVDS, RS422, 10GbE Familiarity with DC power distribution and protection circuits (OVP, fusing, current limiting) Proficiency with general test equipment: power supplies, multimeters, signal generators, signal/logic analyzers, oscilloscopes Ability to capture schematics, perform design rule checks, generate Gerber outputs, and create BOMsProficiency with Microsoft tools suite Preferred Skills: Experience with high-speed digital PCB design (JESD204B, 10GbE, multi-gig SerDes) Knowledge of RF PCB design and SMA/2.92mm connector footprints for frequencies up to 18 GHz Familiarity with VPX/OpenVPX standards (VITA 46/65) Experience with Linux (RHEL) and Windows (Win11) operating systems Understanding of IPC standards for fabrication and assembly Ability to design power supplies with fused leads, OVP, and shunts (0.01), and strap resistors Experience design for high-speed routing (e.g., 10Gbps), SPI/JTAG Capability to design FMC mezzanine adapter cards (e.g., FMC-SMA-LVDS, FMC-4R45) for STE FPGA drawers Based on this job posting, I'm a sophomore electrical engineering student with a budget of $50 and 3 months to work on this project (6 hours per week).
