Welcome back to my series hiking in Cincinnati, where Rocky and I explore local trails worth visiting. Today we visited Stanbery Park in Mount Washington. This 130 acre park includes paved walking paths and wooded hiking trails. Rocky and I hiked the Shoop Trail, a 1.3 mile loop that winds through the woods following and crossing Stanbery Creek. The trail feels surprisingly secluded and offers beautiful views of the creek and surrounding forest. The trail is well marked and there are bridges and staircases in some areas, but it could use a little maintenance. We came across a large tree blocking part of the trail and a few creek crossings were difficult to navigate. The creek was a little bit and Rocky was very unsure about crossing on his own, so I had to carry him across the creek a couple of times. We visited the day after it rained and the trail was still pretty muddy, so keep the weather in mind if you're planning a trip. Some more benefits of this park include free entry, plenty of parking, public restrooms, and a playground if you're planning on bringing kids along. Overall, Rocky and I really enjoyed this hike. It's an easy, low effort trail that offers a peaceful escape into nature. If you're looking for a quiet spot to explore close to Cincinnati, Stanbery Park is definitely worth checking out.
