I just got paid today, so come help me budget my very frugal 23-year-old me budget my paycheck as a frugal 23-year-old. Starting off with my fixed expenses. I just moved out of my parents' house, but I moved in with my brother, so the amount of money that I'm paying in rent is staying the same, 500 bucks a month. I know. And then I'll be paying about $230 for my car payment this month. And I put aside $100 for all my subscriptions. So that's $830 out onto my variable expenses. This is the money that I spend every single month, but the amount might change. So starting off with gas, I put aside about $150 to $200 bucks a month for gas. And then $300 for things like groceries and food. And then $400 goes into my fun fund. So this is money that I can spend however I want on entertainment, purely for myself. Which brings all my expenses to $1,730 total. Which then leaves me with $1,270 to throw into my Roth IRA and my individual brokerage account. Of that $1,270, exactly half of it, so $635 into Roth IRA, so $635 into my Roth and then $635 into my individual brokerage account. My Roth is obviously my retirement. So the $635 going into ETFs or very good large cap companies. And the $635 that's going into my individual brokerage going into more speculative stocks. I'm only 23 years old, so I have time on my side. So I can afford to be a little bit more aggressive and speculative when it comes to investing. But that's how I budget my paycheck.
