I'm genuinely really worried about where fashion is heading. Practically every time I open my phone, there's a new trend, something new on my feed that people are talking about. It is becoming impossible to keep up. The reason is thought to be the rise of so-called fast fashion, the mass production and sale of low quality and cheaply-made clothing closely following the latest trends. The faster the trends move, like, the faster we feel like we need to buy something new. Globally, we produce 92 million tons of textile every year. That is the equivalent of a garbage truck dumping a whole load of clothes every second, despite new clothes being actually for wearing them for less time than we used to. The average wear time of a piece of clothing has fallen by 36% over the past 15 years. I don't think fashion is the problem. The problem is being like we're constantly behind a trend. And that is why I thrift all the time because I'm not trying to be perfectly, but I know what I buy will last. I'm not going to sell it on Vinted after a wear.
