If you're the only person in your family who goes to therapy, the one who talks about mental health and the one everyone labels as the unstable one. I want to tell you something your family won't. You aren't the sick one. You're the identified patient. What's up? My name is Rich. I'm a licensed therapist and here, 30 seconds of therapy. So on family systems therapy, an identified patient is the person who expresses the symptoms of an entire dysfunctional family. The system is sick, but it's too painful for the adults to admit it. So unconsciously they project all of the tension, secrets, and trauma onto you, pointing out that your struggles to avoid looking at themselves. Your anxiety or depression isn't proof that you are broken. It's proof that you're the only one holding up a mirror. You do not have to carry the symptoms of a system that refuses to heal itself. Drop that burden. It was never yours to fix. Give yourself some space and grace today. Save this video and share with someone who can relate.
