Science GPA: 3.94 Cumulative GPA: 3.97 MCAT: 509 Lotsss of hours / amazing essays imo Applied: 47 Denied: 42 Interviewed: 5 Waitlisted: 4 - *Loyola, Iowa, Creighton, Wisconsin Accepted: 1 - MCW Obvi did not end up at MCW... Literally signed a lease in Milwaukee, had to accept my offer otherwise it would be retracted, obvi was SO GRATEFUL TO BE ACCEPTED ANYWHERE, but was just so not super excited about MCW.. MCW was amazing, I just had fallen in love with Loyola during my interview and had this "gut feeling"... I just knew in my heart Loyola was where I was meant to be. MCW Accepted Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine Office of Medical Admissions Letter of Continued Intent At least I was confident lol... Dear Admissions Committee, When I tell you I BEGGED LOYOLA TO LET ME IN... I applied continued intent to attend Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine if offered a seat in your entering class of 2022, I would Pretty sure I sent them MULTIPLE update letters / letters of intent ultimately shape me I have but your medical strong would a I love you guys sm sm please let me in <3" basically saying, choice. I future physician. Loyola leaves me with an overwhelming sense of "home." and I am fully drawn to your program over any other. If I were to be offered a seat in your entering class of 2022, I would accept without hesitation and decline any other offers of acceptance and waitlist positions. I am confident that Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine best aligns with my values and goals as a future medical doctor and graciously thank you for your continued consideration. Sincerely, Victoria Anne Hodkiewicz Then with one final email, on the day before I had to give MCW my final commitment of acceptance (and couldn't withdraw if another acceptance came thru)... I told Loyola this and....... Got the acceptance call from Loyola that day! WAS SO IN SHOCK AND BAWLING MY EYES OUT! Interview -> Waitlist -> Accepted: 1 - Loyola Pretty sure I was the very last one in my class to be accepted that year (end of June) Loyola was one of the best decisions I've ever made, I met lifelong best friends, received an incredible education, felt genuinely supported by the program/faculty, and ultimately graduated at the top of my medical school class (despite being the last one to get an acceptance), and was set up for success in residency. If you're going into an application season (med school or residency), this is your reminder to follow your heart whenever you can. Any application process can be incredibly discouraging, but where you get in, or whether you get waitlisted, is her absolutely ZERO correlation with why you as a person how you will perform throughout medical school or residency, and the kind of physician you'll one day become.
