Welcome to Brand Malpractice, the series. We talk about the things that brands get right, the things that they get wrong, or maybe how you can use what they're doing in your business. And today, we're talking about Rare Beauty's new campaign with Ella Bright, which I'm absolutely obsessed over. And honestly, I think this is something that business owners should be taking notes of. If you haven't seen this campaign yet, I really think you should go watch it. But I think this is such a big deal for the brand because Rare Beauty just announced Ella Bright as their first ever celebrity ambassador outside of the founder, Selena Gomez. Instead of introducing her with, like, a typical beauty brand campaign, they basically built the entire concept around a moment in off campus because, duh, it's Ella Bright. But right now, people are still making edits, talking about Hannah and Garrett, and then obviously, on the countdown for season 2, which I myself am included in that. But it's because we all know that moment, right? But no, wait, maybe we should watch it just to make sure. You blush whenever I come near you. Get over yourself. I don't blush. Don't blush. Maybe that moment was for you. Maybe mostly it was for me. But anyway, I think that this is one of the biggest mistakes that business owners make when it comes to their marketing. Honestly, people tend to spend so much time thinking about new content ideas where they completely overlook the conversation that people are already having. They sit down with trying to come up with a new idea instead of looking at what their audience is already talking about. And that's literally what I'm doing in this video. Rare Beauty created a campaign that people are going to talk about, and I'm looking at it through a marketing lens, pulling out the brand lesson, and now we're here having a conversation about it. That is basically how brands are built. Your perspective is your brand. The things that you agree with, disagree with, and question are what give people a reason to remember you after they've forgotten that educational post that just, like, really didn't resonate with them. This is something that I love helping my clients with because some of our best performing content has never come from forcing another educational idea into the content calendar that we are trying to create. It comes from paying attention. What is everybody talking about this week? What's changing in your industry? What campaign caught your attention and what trends? Maybe do you have an opinion on those? Those moments become opportunities to teach through your own perspective. And that's exactly why you stop sounding like everyone else and actually have a brand that is unique. This week, I wanna give you a challenge, which is basically pay attention to the conversations that your audience is already having. Ask yourself, do I have a perspective worth adding here? You don't need to jump in on every single conversation, but the conversations that naturally connect to your expertise are the ones that help people understand how you think. And it's one of the fastest ways to build a memorable brand. Anyways, I'm counting down the days until season 2, so I'm just absolutely obsessed with this campaign. What do you guys think?
