A few months ago, a 20-year-old Olympic gold medalist said I love struggling, actually. It makes me feel alive. Which proves that we're on the cusp of a new world where the ambitious, whimsical optimists finally win. Let me explain. We've been taught that ambition requires constant struggling and sacrifice, but there's a better kind of ambition that does it purely for the love of the game. Psychology and neuroscience prove this. We know that doing hard things is good for us. It's more rewarding, more fulfilling, and it optimizes dopamine pathways. And it's in the acceptance of the absurd that we actually find joy. Life will always involve some kind of struggle, but it's in that struggle that we find passion and zest for life.
