What would happen if for the next 30 days you radically accepted yourself? Instead of growing out of shame, you decided to grow out of love. The psychologist Carl Rogers famously pointed out a paradox in human psychology where when we actually accept ourselves just as I am, then I can change. First is the permission to be constantly say, I want to go to the gym five days a week, but I always only end up going twice. It's allowing myself to actually put on my to-do list, go twice a week to the gym. Just actually setting targets that are kind to you, that you know you can fulfill. Number two is accept the ugly. Taking all your negative beliefs, just be yourself, nobody fucking likes you anyways. True. Like, finding the comedy in it. Which leads to number three, holding space for all emotions. Giving kindness in moments where you don't like your emotions and moments where you're sad, you're anxious, curious about those emotions and why they're here and what they have to tell you. I am truly of the belief that no emotion is negative. Some days I feel like I'm Sisyphus pushing my boulder up the hill, but about finding the joy in the struggle will also feel like loss. I will be doing this over the next 30 days. It makes it a little less daunting, it becomes a bit of an experiment. Follow. I hope you follow along for this. And I'll update you how it goes.
