swap trip day one in Montenegro. I am in Durmitor National Park and I'm here on a trip that my husband planned for me as a surprise. But he's not here. He's in Madeira in Portugal. On a trip that I planned for him. But anyway, I'm going to go see what the day has to offer. But first I have to consult my handy dandy itinerary to see what the options are out here. I can go rafting, I can go paragliding, I can go trail running in the nearby mountains in the national park. Or I can bike the 50 mile Durmitor Ring Road, which is apparently the most scenic route in all of Montenegro. So I think I'm going to go for the bike. I don't recall how long 50 miles would take me, but I feel like it can't be that bad. It's basically a motorcycle. I look ridiculous in this helmet. But I'm going to have a great time out here in Montenegro doing the Durmitor Ring Road. So let's go see what there is to see out there. Oh, also I have no route. The man that rented me the bike just gave me three points to save in my phone and was like, go here, here, and here. So I don't really know. I'm hoping it's obvious. It wasn't. I'm hoping there's other bikers. He was like, you are doing it alone? I was like, yeah, girl. Whatever. Anyway, I made it through the first part, which honestly was a little bit challenging getting out of the town city, whatever town. Um, but now I'm out here and it's a lot nicer and there's fewer cars and it's beautiful. Like there are little A-frame huts everywhere and it's sunny and warm, but not scorching. But I also forgot to eat anything before I started this. So that's going to become an issue later. But so far, so good. I'm checking in from mile 40. So I'm almost there. My braid has fallen out. Um, I'm feeling great. That lunch revived me. I wish I had some candy. That was very silly. Not to bring any food, but my spirits are high. And I'm almost done. Which is awesome. Okay, I have survived the Durmitor Ring Road cycling journey. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be. Um, there was a lot more climbing involved. And it was hard even with an e-bike, which is kind of sad to admit. But it was beautiful. It was very beautiful and I'm glad I didn't like anything I'd seen before. So, um, that's going to be a plus one. Minus one because the cycling shorts would have been super nice, especially my cycling shorts. Otherwise, it was amazing and I'm glad I'm done. My back hurts a little bit. But I'm going to go to the grocery store now to get some snacks to refuel because I definitely did not eat or drink enough on the ride. And then I'll shower and then I have a massage, which is wonderful. So far, an amazing day. Okay, I took a shower and I feel revived, slightly, but the massage is what I think will actually revive me. Massage indeed revived me.
