closing my first retail store ...

storytime on why I am closing down my first ever retail store. Two years ago, I had to beg to get into the centre. I had to do so much proving of myself and the brand. And I got accepted to a store. It was small, but it served its purpose. Down there, it's around 84sqm, my ideal size was 120sqm. And guys, I knew deep down that the store that I got was not big enough. It is costing WAY too much in rent, as we are way over the turn over rent threshold ( over performing for the size ). And it wasn't what I wanted, but I knew that I had to just accept it and that in time to come, if the brand proves itself, then I would be moving to somewhere bigger. I actually feel a bit emotional standing here. It is the start of something so exciting. I did not think I would open this store and then go on to open six more. This was my first store for two years. We are moving out of here because we are moving into a prime location in the shopping centre, literally one of the best and the hardest positions to get in the centre. This is actually probably my dream, my dream spot in the shopping centre. It's absolutely perfect. And look how big it is! I am so excited and I'm so glad that finally Velocity's brand power is showing itself. And consistency, and everybody starts somewhere. So don't be offended at the start if nobody wants to listen to what you have to say, and nobody believes you. You trust yourself, you back yourself, and you have to start somewhere. And I'm so glad I did. So this is our new location. It's between JD Sports and Hype. This is actually probably my dream, my dream spot in the shopping centre. It's absolutely perfect. And look how big it is!
