I lied on my background check to see what would happen. And here's what the company saw. I tried a fake degree saying I had a JD from Yale. I tried to close down company I was indeed a manager at Radio Shack. And I tried to claim my own consulting company that I wouldn't like them to contact because I'm still there. This is a reminder I'm an active director recruiting who still hires people today and still runs checks like this constantly. They were not able to verify me through the National Student Clearinghouse, which only takes a few minutes when a degree is real. They asked me for a copy of the degree and I told them I'd have to try and find it, but I don't have it right at. And you can see what the employer sees each step by step. I typed in the very end, the employer and myself are both going to be sent a copy of this report. But you can see this is not an automatic pass or fail system. This is something that then shows the company anything they may wanna dig further into. So if you were someone who, good luck proving that I didn't work there, they don't have to. You have to prove you did. And when they can't verify it, they will ask you for the proof. This isn't corporate propaganda or whatever weird things you wanna write in the comments. This is what the majority of office roles do in the United States. And even if you have an anecdote that says they don't do it, they do. So when I say you are likely to get caught lying about things like your education or working at a company, you can listen or you cannot listen. You can argue with yourselves in the comments. But this is a real background. This is what they see and this is what happens.
