Unboxing and 31.5km first run in the On LightSpray Cloudmonster 3 Hyper - here’s how it went… I’ve been wanting to try LightSpray since seeing & holding them at the National Running Show earlier this year. As is often the case with new technology, I struggled to find any shoes with a LightSpray upper in my size. That was until I spotted some in size 13.5 online on Thursday and immediately placed an order. I decided to jump straight in and try them on my Saturday long run - 3 hours on the treadmill at 10.5kmh (5:42/km) for 31.5km total. It started well - compared to the original Cloudmonster I found the midsole to be a little more squishy and comfortable. The upper felt light and breathable. For some reason the left foot has a better lockdown than the right foot (maybe my left foot is a bit fatter and fills out the shoe 🤷♂️), and with no laces to tighten I was finding my right foot was slipping about a bit creating some friction hot spots, plus my toes were banging against the front. A blister started forming on the underside of one of my little toes. Then towards the end of my first hour, the outside of my left forefoot began to get sore, like it was rubbing against a firm edge of the footbed. I hopped off the treadmill, quickly grabbed some Enertor insoles and slipped them in - it gave the shoes a whole new lease of life. The thicker insoles were more comfortable and meant my foot was now filling the right shoe so there was no slipping about or friction, and the pressure point on the left forefoot disappeared too. The rest of the run felt good, until I felt the blister on my right toe burst with just a couple of minutes of the run left to go. I could feel my sock getting wet and worried blood would soak through and stain the shoe. Thankfully it didn’t, but I quickly pulled them off once I’d hit 3 hours and my sock was turning pink (apologies to anyone reading this whilst they’re eating 🤢). Not a perfect first run, but some lessons learned - now that I know they are more comfortable for me with the extra insoles I’ll start with them in next time. #r#Runningr#runnerr#runliferunningmotivation #lightspray
