We took a day trip from Connecticut to Block Island with a $200 budget. Here's how much we spent. This is our first time going to Block Island. We went in with zero expectations. And honestly, zero plans. My sister came with us, but I'm only going to include the price for two people to keep it simple. We drove to Point Judith from Hartford County and parking was honestly a nightmare out there. We found a house that let us park in her yard for $15. We took the Block Island Ferry out of Point Judith with fees of $23 a ticket. They had a high-speed ferry that was 30 minutes instead of the hour one we were on, but that was $46. We got two hot dogs on the ferry and a drink. That was way too expensive. The hot dogs were $16 and the drink was $3. We were 100% sure how we're going to get around the island. We considered doing bicycles, but that seemed like a lot. So we decided to taxi around. One rookie mistake we made was carrying virtually no cash. The taxi was the preferred method among the island. We had to find a taxi that would accept card/Venmo. We took a taxi to Mohegan Bluffs that was $17. Remember how I mentioned in the beginning that we had no plans? That means we also did very little research. And we did not know about the brutal stairs at Mohegan Bluff. I would rate that a solid zero out of 10. We're going to a real beach, but after we walked all the way down to the freezing water. We then walked back up the stairs to the lighthouse next door. We tried to go inside, but it cost money, so we ditched that. We taxed back to the main area of the island and that taxi was $22. We had a restaurant called Beach Head. They had decent reviews online. I got a blueberry vodka and Ash got a rum punch. For food, I ordered a lobster roll with fries. My sister got a burger and Ash got the fisherman's platter. With tip, this meal came up to $170. Excluding her meal, but including our tip, our meal was $144. We think that's some merch because everywhere we go, we get a shot glass and or ornament. We went to the ice cream place, but they only took cash, so we went to Ben & Jerry's instead. It's normally expensive pricing, but not including it in here because my big bucks sister paid for our ice cream. So total for the day trip, we spent $278 on Block Island. We had a great time.
