PROGRAM, WHICH STOOD FOR "DRUG AWARENESS RESISTANCE EDUCATION," TURNED OUT TO NOT BE EFFECTIVE AT ALL! DARE TO RESIST DRUGS AND VIOLENCE. DRUG ABUSE RESISTANCE EDUCATION RESEARCHERS HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT THE OUTCOMES OF THE DARE PROGRAM AND SIMILAR PROGRAMS FOR OVER 30 YEARS AND THE OUTCOMES HAVE BEEN VERY CLEAR. IT DIDN'T WORK. THEY LOOKED AT LONG TERM STUDIES TOOK THE PROGRAM DIDN'T AND THERE WAS VERY LITTLE DIFFERENCE. OVER EIGHT RIGOROUS STUDIES FOUND THE SAME CONCLUSION. DARE'S, FEAR BASED EDUCATION "JUST SAY NO" WAS NOT EFFECTIVE. NOW RESEARCHERS ARE LOOKING AT MODERN PREVENTION PROGRAMS THAT INCLUDE DECISION MAKING, LIFE SKILLS, COPING AND INTERACTIVE LEARNING. Pencils produced in the 1990s with the anti-drug slogan: "Too Cool to Do Drugs" were most popular, when sharpened, they read "Do Drop." SO IF YOU'RE WONDERING WHY SCHOOLS MOVED AWAY FROM THE DARE PROGRAM, WELL, SCIENCE HAS ANSWERED THAT QUESTION MANY YEARS AGO! DRUG ABUSE SCHOOL PARENTS POLICE RESISTANCE EDUCATION WITH ALL THAT SAID, I DON'T LIKE I'M A BIG DEAL, BUT DURING MY FIFTH GRADE GRADUATION, I WAS THE KID BEING TEMPTED BY ALL THE SUBSTANCES AS BONNIE TYLER'S TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART PLAYED IN THE BACKGROUND!
