The other day, I highlighted five restaurants that tend a little bit more progressive when it comes to their political giving. Now, let's look at my list of the five worst when it comes to Republican giving! First, we have Steak 'n Shake. Yes, they still believe it or not, and they're holding on to their lifeline by embracing MAGA and MAHA. Steak 'n Shake shares MAHA influencers on their social media channels. They've welcomed RFK Jr. into their restaurants, and some of the franchise owners even put up Charlie Kirk memorial ads. Next, we have Landry's, which is a huge restaurant empire that encompasses everything from Bubba Gump Shrimp, Rainforest Cafe to Morton's. Tillman Fertitta is the founder of this company. He's donated over $800,000 to Donald Trump. Trump's ambassador to Italy, and he recently announced that he's trying to purchase Caesars Entertainment. And then we have Fat Brands. Now, Fat Brands owns a variety of restaurants, everything from Fazoli's, Marble Slab, Twin Peaks to Johnny Rockets. Feds drop charges against Fat Brands Chairman Andy Wiederhorn. The U.S. Department of Justice filed a motion to dismiss all charges against the chairman of the franchise restaurant brand operator. He had been charged in a $47 million fake loan scheme. Fat Brands donated $100,000 to Donald Trump's inauguration, and the founder of the company has donated over $25,000 to Donald Trump and MAGA-aligned Republicans. And then we have Jimmy John's. Jimmy John's was sold to private equity. However, the founder, Jimmy John Liautaud, continues to have brand leadership over the company. He donated $1.5 million to the Sentinel Action Fund in 2024. The Sentinel Action Fund is an affiliate fund of the Heritage Foundation. And then we have In-N-Out. In-N-Out does not give to politics as a company. However, the Snyder family, which owns the entire restaurant brand, is very Republican. Lynsi Snyder-Ellingson donated $2 million to a MAGA PAC in 2025. And I'm not covering it in this one because it's so obvious, but of course, Chick-fil-A.
