Before you reconnect with someone who hurt you, I want you to remember the version of you who survived the pain deserves your loyalty. Think about that version of yourself. The one who cried when nobody was watching. The one who questioned your worth. The one who wondered, why wasn't I enough? The one who kept trying to love someone who kept showing you they were incapable of loving you the way you needed it. The version of you who fought hard to get where you are today. And going back to the person who wounded you without seeing any real change is disrespectful to the person you became while healing. And hear my heart on this. That doesn't mean you have to hate them. It doesn't mean you have to carry anger. It doesn't mean you wish them harm. It means you finally understand that your peace and your self worth has value. Because sometimes loneliness will make us remember the good moments and forget the price you had to pay for them. Sometimes we miss what was familiar. But familiar does not always mean safe. And here's the mindset shift I want you to hold on to. You will continue returning to what hurt you until you believe you deserve something better. Your life changes when your beliefs about yourself change. When you finally believe, I am worthy of respect, I am worthy of love, I am worthy of peace, your decisions begin to reflect that belief. So Before you reopen a door that god helped you close, ask yourself this. Am I going back because something has truly changed? Or am I going back because I'm afraid to be alone? Because if nothing has changed, the ending will probably be the same. And the person you are becoming deserves the protection of the person you fought so hard to become. Love you dearly.
