Please wear a life jacket if you cannot swim

Please wear a life jacket if you cannot swim. Please stop going in bodies of water without a life jacket if you don't know how to swim. And look, I will never shame somebody if they don't know how to swim, but I will shame you if you know you can't swim and you still decide to get in the water without a life jacket. Because not only is it selfish and dangerous for your own self, but it's also dangerous for everybody around you. Because not only are you risking yourself of drowning, you have the risk of pulling other people with you when they're trying to help you and save you from drowning. And I know people don't like wearing life jackets for some reason, because they say, oh, it's too bulky, or you look uncool, or you look like a loser. But who gives a damn? The point of a life jacket is to save your life. You can still go in the water, you can still enjoy the fun rides and all the stuff, but just wear a life jacket, please. Like, I think it is stupid if you're willing to value what other people think about how you look wearing a life jacket over your own life. That makes no sense. And as a former swimmer, it really does upset me because so many people overestimate their ability to swim and they don't realize that this is life and death we're talking about. Swimming is fun, yes, but it can quickly turn bad, especially when you don't know how to swim and you overestimate your abilities.
