Laptop or iPad for college? iPad or college? Hi, my name is Abby and I'm a rising sophomore at Penn State. And I have both. So I'm gonna break it down for you. This is what TikTok calls my Apple ecosystem. Yes. This is an Apple Macbook. I bought it before the Apple Macbook Neo came out. And this is the type of charger it takes. And this is my iPad Pro. I bought it with the Apple keyboard and Apple Pencil Pro. Okay, I'm a physical therapy major, okay? I need to look at diagrams, slideshows, and do a lot of online work. Flip side to this, I need to take a lot of handwritten notes. But with a handwritten notes, I also have to make a lot of handwritten diagrams, okay? So the setup for my homework is I'm using my laptop to show me my slideshow, and then I'm using my iPad to take my notes. That is how I do my homework. Now, when I'm in class, I typically just have my iPad and I just have my notes. So this is magnetically connected, so I take this off and then I write on here. The only reason I picked Apple over anything else is because I have an iPhone and I grew up on Apple products, so I just know how to use that best. I understand there's cheaper options and you're gonna do what works best for you. I had someone comment and say if I were them, I would just get the iPad with a computer attachment and a pencil. You are set to go. That is your laptop in your iPad. Okay, so with my iPad, I can actually split screen my, so I can see my lecture notes and then take notes at the same time. So why did I also buy laptop? Okay, so let's double the storage. So let's say I ran out of storage on my iPad. I can't clear a lot of it because it's still notes and things I still need. Now I can just take paper notes and still use my laptop and vice versa. Okay, so with all this being said, laptop or iPad? It really depends on your major. It comes down to it if you were an art major or you were like me who needs a bunch of notes and diagrams and you have to be able to edit a bunch of things. iPad with a computer attachment and a pencil all the way. I could so make it without my laptop. However, if you want to make your life easier? I would get a laptop. It does just make things better. If you're some type of education or business major, you could probably survive just off of a laptop. That's the end of it. Also, I forgot to include not all of your assignments are going to be available on just your iPad. This is a huge one. I have had diagrams not open and I've not been able to take some quizzes or exams just on my iPad. I needed my laptop for that as well. That is also the benefit of the laptop. Now my biggest tip for picking a brand is pick whatever your phone is. So I have an Apple phone. My Apple phone syncs my schedule, my apps, my calendar, literally everything to my iPad, which syncs to my laptop. Anytime I make an edit on my Google Doc on my iPad, it syncs on my phone and it syncs on my laptop. Everything syncs. I would do the same thing for you guys. Make your life easy. But also if you need an affordable product, do not spend the time or the money trying to save for a product you can afford.
