5 canon events every freshman in college will go through. Number one, the second semester friend group breakup. It's absolutely insane how many of my friends went through this experience this year. I feel like this is because everyone's very lovey-dovey in the first few weeks and then everyone starts to hate each other around Christmas time. So yeah, don't be surprised when your friend group turns on you in second semester. Number two, getting the freshman flu and being violently ill. It is so bad, you'll look so sick, especially after Halloween. Oh my god. I remember getting so sick in January that like, my body was hot, I was literally just sitting in my bed for three days straight. So yeah, remember to bring your medicine. Number three, buying an expensive textbook unnecessarily. Buying an $800 textbook and then realizing you don't even need it for your class. I wasted my hard-earned money on that freaking family studies textbook last year. Didn't even open it once, wasn't a necessary component for the class. This is why you should wait to buy the textbook after a bit of class. Do not buy it straight from the syllabus. You probably don't need it. Number four, getting your housemates and then hating them before you even move in. A lot of my friends and then they're picking their housemates or signing their leases too early and now they hate their freaking roommates. These will be the people that you're like, oh my god, I can't wait to room with you. And then on a random April afternoon, shit will hit the fan and that will be your worst enemy. So yeah, pick wisely. Number five, dating someone in your residence or talking to them. Don't do it. I mean, I would still do it because I'm kind of evil, but don't do it. You're literally going to have to see this person everywhere. It's going to be humiliating. Bonus points if you see them with a new girl three days after. Those are my top five canon events.
