Last night I was at Salsa on St. Clair and I watched some of these events play out in front of my eyes. Two people were killed, five were injured. I'm not addressing anything else, I just want to say rest in peace to the families affected and I'm wishing those who were injured a very speedy recovery. Last night when I arrived at the festival, I walked through a crowd and saw cops running to somewhere. And then I saw a bunch of people in a circle and they were filming. And I'm a content creator, so I assume there was some sort of performance. Because I went in the morning and people were doing performances in like a circle, so I thought that's what it was. I put up my phone to film and then I didn't see anything, so I asked someone beside me what was going on. To which he looked at me and replied, "Oh, someone's dead over there." I took a look around me to see hundreds of people laughing and recording. I had to keep walking because I was there to find my friend and I'm incredibly worried for her. But I found her and we ended up going into the crowd where there was music. At some point we were trying to look for our other friend, but we could not cross over because the whole area was yellow taped. It was a huge scene. People doing CPR, ambulances, the whole nine yards. People being put onto stretchers. I was incredibly concerned. My friend and I went right into the crowd and then I heard shots go off and saw everyone dispersing. I was involved in the Raptors shooting in 2019, so I already knew where this was going. People started running. And when I started running, it was already too late. People were trampling, jumping. I was literally jumped on, fell to the floor, scraped my whole leg up, had to jump back up and keep running. Here's what you guys don't understand. We didn't know that this was some sort of conflict. We didn't know that this was some sort of exchange. My head immediately thought, this is a Latin event, this might be a hate crime. And we really did not know what was happening. We thought it was an active assailant going for random people. I was telling people to run in zigzags because I thought that there were multiple people armed that could come for us. Cops were running, ambulance machines, because they were trying to find this active assailant amongst 13,000 people. And when I finally did get to safety with my friend, we opened the news and they said that there was an active shooter. I imagine 13,000 people running in one direction. That is where a lot of the injuries came from, by the way, because people were being mauled. My mother called me, terrified. As I make this video right now, at 11:25 AM, we still haven't found the person. And a few blocks over, after everyone ran to safety, I heard people straight up making jokes about the guy who passed away. And then I opened my timeline to see content creators, some of whom I respect, making their content about Toronto events. And I'm going to talk to you guys now. If you took your phone out to film that man or to film people running in horror, fuck you. Two people didn't get to come home. Five people are in the hospital. Hundreds of thousands of people are traumatized after having to run for their lives. And you guys care about the fucking content? Getting it out on time? I am a content creator. I make content about Toronto events. Some of you may have came because of my video. And I understand that typically you're supposed to post things while the topic is relevant. But as you guys are posting this man's lifeless body, his family doesn't even know he's passed away yet. What if his best friend had to scroll through his timeline and see their friend lying there, lifeless? How the fuck would you guys feel? Instead of genuine concern, we have content creators saying, "Oh, they got Salsa on St. Clair, guys, we can't have anything nice." Stuff people saying, "Oh, I almost went, thank God I didn't go, it's so scary." Nobody cares about you or if you went or not. People die. If you guys are filming tragedies like this, you don't deserve to have a platform. Because one day, that could be you, your family, your brother, your sister, your mother, and you're going to be fucking heartbroken and you're going to watch their body on social media before you even get an autopsy report.
