100% cotton brandy melville haul quick little rundown on polyester it's plastic, it's made out of petroleum and synthetic fibers and that plastic is sitting on your skin 24/7 including your sensitive areas if you're wearing plastic underwear because it's made out of plastic, you know, it sheds microplastics when you put your polyester plastic clothes in the washer and dryer, it sheds thousands of microplastics into the wastewater and into the environment and then those microplastic fibers can even become airborne. Now, those two are both healthy approaches but the third is that it's also like not biodegradable. Our clothing is outliving us which is kind of crazy. Polyester persists in the environment for basically forever, eventually just breaking down into smaller and smaller fragments, like microplastics and then nano plastics. Three pros of cotton: One, it's plastic-free. No microplastics are shed. And it's biodegradable in the right conditions. Low tox, non-toxic space might tell you only buy 100% organic cotton that's like GOTS certified, I think. That way you get the benefits of wearing natural fibers while avoiding synthetic pesticides or fertilizers that were used to raise the cotton. Let's be real, organic cotton is so expensive. If you have a goal like me to reduce your exposure to microplastics, reduce, not eliminate. You can't eliminate it. Then choosing the 95% to 100% cotton option is still better than 100% polyester. Also, I'm really not trying to represent Brandy Melville as some sort of sustainability God. Obviously, it's a fast fashion brand and they create lots of products that are not 100% cotton. I bought mainly like lounge things. White, light blue striped pajama shorts. These are my favorite lounge shorts I have like two, three of these in different colorways. They're so comfy and so soft. And these are genuinely perfect for California summer nights. This is basically the same thing but the pants version. Also low rise, which is like super lightweight and thin and like breezy. Like I could also do yoga in this. This is so darling. Not gonna lie, I think I repurchase a variation of this tank like every two years. I love a good basic. Last thing, this little black tank. I liked the neck of it. I bought mainly like lounge things.
