I am doing a deep dive into The Signatry, legally known as the Servant Foundation — a massive Christian donor-advised fund that has moved hundreds of millions of dollars through organizations across the country. The Hobby Lobby Green family has longstanding ties to The Signatry, but here’s where it gets complicated: donor-advised funds can make it incredibly difficult to identify which individual donor is behind a specific grant. So when The Signatry sends money to organizations fighting LGBTQ+ rights, opposing marriage equality, or advancing conservative Christian causes, the public can often see where the money went, but not necessarily whose account it came from.
