Trump's tariff war with Canada could soon be coming for your toilet paper! Canada announced that they are putting 25 to 50% tariffs on over 900 items in retaliation to Donald Trump putting 50% tariffs on products from Canada. One of those items is toilet paper, and Canada is the largest provider of toilet paper to the United States. In 2024, we purchased over $328 million. And it's not just the toilet paper. Paper made in the United States needs the pulp that comes from Canada, products to manufacture it. When Trump starts trade wars with other countries, they retaliate, guess who pays more at the checkout? Spoiler alert! It's not Canada! These new tariffs are expected to go into effect beginning September 8th. So if you need some toilet paper, I suggest you do it before it cost 25 to 50% more. And since we're talking about toilet paper, I would be remiss not to remind everyone that one of the worst companies to political giving to Republicans is Georgia Pacific, which is owned by Koch Industries. Not to be confused with Coca Cola! Georgia Pacific makes paper products including Quilted Northern, Angel Soft, Brawny, Sparkle, Dixie, and Vanity Fair. They are also companies that makes Kirkland Signature toilet paper.
