If I could give any piece of advice to anybody who's entering or somebody who's just new to you have to learn how to play the game. The second that you see it as anything more than it being a transaction where you go to a place, you produce work and you collect a paycheck. Is when you can get into some really murky waters. And I unfortunately did. I ended up in a position where I gave my all to a job. I gave my weekends, holidays, early mornings, late nights. I missed family events. I missed friend events. If you enjoy collecting a stable paycheck and having a structured day-to-day, there's nothing wrong with that. It's totally fine. But it's understanding what you're actually there for and the transaction that exists between you and the organization. The main goal of a job is actually not to benefit you. It's not to benefit you. It's to benefit the organization. Can you benefit from it? Sure. You can collect a paycheck. You can have health insurance. Don't think it owes you anything other than a paycheck. It doesn't owe you opportunity. It doesn't owe you loyalty. It doesn't owe you career growth. It doesn't owe you purpose or passion. It doesn't owe you that. If you don't learn how if you don't play it, it is going to hurt you 100 times more than it's ever going to affect an organization.
