When your solicitor says they’re “waiting for information” during your house purchase, that update can feel incredibly vague—especially when you’re a first-time buyer who has no idea what is supposed to happen next. 🏡 It doesn’t necessarily mean that your solicitor is doing nothing or that something has gone wrong. They could be waiting for replies to legal enquiries, mortgage documents, property-search results, information from the seller, paperwork from the seller’s solicitor or documents from a freeholder or management company. Instead of sending another “Any updates?” email, ask for specific information. What exactly is outstanding? Who is responsible for providing it? When was it first requested? When was it last chased? Is this the only issue preventing the purchase from progressing—and is there anything you can do while you wait? Try sending: “Please could you confirm exactly what information is outstanding, who it is due from, when it was first requested and when it was last chased? Is this the only matter preventing progress, and is there anything I can do while we wait?” This doesn’t guarantee an immediate answer or make the conveyancing process move faster, but it should give you a much clearer picture of where the delay sits and what needs to happen next. Save this first-time home-buying guidance for the next time you receive one of those frustratingly vague solicitor updates and immediately assume your entire house purchase is falling apart. 😂🔑 #FirstTimeHomeBuyingGuidance #ConveyancingUK #FirstTimeBuyerUK #BuyingAHouseUK #creatorsearchinsights
