My mortgage payment is going up $800. My payment is going up from $1,700 a month to $2,600 a month. That's a 46% increase. So let's talk about why this change is happening. I have a three bed, two bath home that I bought a couple years ago and now I pay mortgage of $1,771 every month. Unfortunately, interest rates these days are super high and my interest rate is 6.8%. And the last two years I have paid very minimal to my principal. I got a new job and I'm making six figures, so I decided that I want to start increasing more money towards my principal. So I'll be adding an additional $830 monthly to my monthly payment. Very lofty goal, so follow along to see if I can.
