This is exactly the kind of evidence an overthinker absolutely did NOT need to discover. 😭 Because now you’re sitting there doing completely unreasonable detective math like, “Wait… when he’s with me he barely checks his phone. Yesterday he didn’t answer me for three hours. Therefore according to the scientific method, THERE WAS A WOMAN PRESENT.” 😭 Suddenly every delayed response has become a potential date. Forty-five minutes? Suspicious. Two hours? Who is she? Four hours? Apparently they’ve already met each other’s parents. Meanwhile this man could literally be taking a nap, working, driving, at the gym, playing a game, watching a movie, or simply existing without his phone attached to his hand. And that’s why this logic feels convincing while proving absolutely nothing. The fact that someone gives you their full attention when you’re together is actually a good thing. It means they’re capable of putting their phone away and being present with whoever they’re spending time with. If anything, enjoy that instead of accidentally turning one of their best qualities into Exhibit A in a fictional cheating investigation. 😭 Obviously, if there are actual reasons not to trust somebody—lying about where they are, disappearing under suspicious circumstances, inconsistent stories, hiding communication with other women—that’s different. But a delayed text by itself isn’t evidence of anything. So when your brain goes, “He hasn’t answered in two hours and I know he doesn’t check his phone around girls…” respectfully inform your brain that it has lost investigative privileges for the evening. Sometimes he’s not with another girl. Sometimes he’s literally just in Target.
