YOUR MANAGER WAS HIRED BECAUSE THEY WON'T DEFEND YOU

well the truth is your manager knew this was coming. They sat in the room where it got decided, walked out and looked you in the face like they had been on your side the whole time. I'll be fair, I've sat in those rooms. They don't make the final call, that part's true. So when they tell you their hands were tied, fine. Believe that part. What I don't believe is they couldn't open their fucking mouth because there's losing the argument and there's never making it. And most of these people never make it. They walk in with their tails already tucked between their legs. They know what the answer is going to be, so why bother? And then they come find you after and go, hey, I fought for you. No, you fucking didn't. You fucking didn't. You sat there. And here's how you know. If they'd said one word for you, one, you'd have heard it by Thursday. That kind of thing, it travels. Silence doesn't leave a trace. That's the whole appeal of it. So why does a company keep handing people to somebody who won't stand up for them? Come on. You already know they're doing the damn job. That's what they were hired for. Somebody upstairs looked at who pushes back and the one who nods. And they picked the nod. On purpose. Because a manager with a damn backbone, they're expensive. They ask the uncomfortable question with other people in the room. They make a bad decision, cost somebody something. Nobody at the top is paying for that when the quiet one's standing right there for free. So quit waiting on them to grow a damn spine. That's why they got the job. And quit bringing them problems, bringing them a position that's what you have to do. You have to bring it to them in writing. Here's what's happening. Here's what I want to do about it. Tell me if you disagree. Put it in an email. Now they answer it or they ignore it. And either way, there's a record. And people like this hate a record a whole lot more than they hate you. You don't have a leader. You've got a messenger who gets paid to look sorry when the news finally reaches you.
