Hook
Well you've seen it before. I'll end an interview in five. They decide in five minutes. Here's how. Minutes over three questions. And normally the third one is actually what trips people up. I conduct interviews different than anyone else because I front load. I ask three questions that tell me about them. Not what they know. If I don't want to hire someone in the first five to 10 minutes, then why waste another 45. See the first thing that I ask is, can you tell me everything that you know about this organization? If they did not put in the time and the effort to research and learn about the company they are considering to be employed at, then they are not going to put in to do the actual job. Everything is about preparation. Be prepared. Be knowledgeable. Show me you actually give a shit. That you actually give a shit. Always follow that one up with, what are your salary expectations? And this question is tricky because I'm not questioning if I can afford someone because I believe in paying for quality. I am questioning how the individual values themselves. See if someone can't put a number on their talents, their work ethic, and what they know they will bring to the organization. That tells me that they don't value themselves. And why would I hire someone like that? See, the first two people can fake. The third one you can't. And it's the reason most interviews will end right here. A candidate the question, what are you looking for? If the response is mundane, you know, a job, a career, work life balance, better pay, room to grow. That shit's easy because everyone wants that. So here's what I actually want to hear. Something like, somewhere my work is going to matter. I don't want a seat. I want a place where if I'm gone, you feel it. See that's the answer. I'm looking for someone who will tell me what they're going to give, not just what they want to get. Not just what they want to get.
