it's actually really simple a high performer never quit over the workload you say that out loud in a leadership meeting then sit back you're going to see the room go quiet the work is the reason they are actually there finishing something hard is the whole point for these people you know think back about who actually left they didn't leave the day they were given the impossible project they left after the fourth or fifth approval on a decision they were hired to make they left after the meeting where somebody asked why they always had to be so intense you know after they said out loud that a project wasn't getting done and the response let's talk about their tone high performers get labeled every time they open their mouth they are either too much too difficult or they're not a team player and the reason is they keep saying the true thing in a room full of people who agreed not to that's not a personality problem it is because those sitting in leadership roles more than the actual truth was worth more than the actual truth and here's what that cost high performers are like a thoroughbred and a thoroughbred doesn't get tired from running it gets ruined from being held back you put a horse of that caliber in a stall and check on it every 20 minutes and ask it to justify its own stride it is going to break down and it won't break down from the racing it will break down because its ability to run is tampered with high performers are the lifeblood of any organization you provide them with and the organization is going to prosper you minimize and silence them and you will lose your best employee
