Tap the link in my bio to start the drawing drills course. First, tracing isn’t inherently bad. Artists trace for transferring drawings, speeding up production, studying shapes, planning compositions, and plenty of other legitimate reasons. But no, I didn’t trace this. I drew it directly in ink from imagination. And that’s actually the entire point of the Drawing Drills. You practice simple forms until you can manipulate them intuitively. You train perspective until you can turn those forms through space. You practice line control until your hand can actually put the marks where your mind wants them. Eventually, you build up a visual library that you can pull from, combine, modify, and invent with. You’re seeing the finished drawing. You’re not seeing the thousands of repetitions that made drawing it possible. That isn’t tracing. That’s training.
