She is a 3-year-old, 63-lb female who is Heartworm HIGH POSITIVE and is now facing a serious medical situation. 🌸 August is a LOVE BUG! 🌸 She can be a little timid when she first meets you, but once she warms up, she absolutely loves attention and solicits pets. A volunteer described her as a love-bug who warms up quickly with treats, and noted that she is good on leash and has good manners. She deserves the chance to get out of the shelter and decompress with someone who will give her patience, kindness, and the medical care she desperately needs. ❤️ 🚨 MEDICAL URGENCY: August is currently being treated for CIRD/respiratory illness. As of 9/5, medical notes report that she is not eating, has copious purulent nasal discharge, and is not getting up to approach. Her antibiotic was changed from doxycycline to clindamycin. The shelter also reports that because of her current behavior, they may not be able to safely provide fluids, injectable medications, or Entyce.
