💚💚ADOPTION PENDING💚💚 🆘💔 ADOPT/RESCUE – SPACE – DUKE NEEDS PLACEMENT BY 10/10 AT 11 AM CST! 💔🆘 🐾 Duke A1300586 • 1 year old • Unaltered male • Weight unavailable • Heartworm status unknown — sample not obtained • Stray found on Westmount Ave., Dallas, TX 75211 🔗 Adoption Link: https://adopt.adopets.com/pet/1f24a671-8130-4a86-a8eb-afe8ac1940e8 💔 PLEASE DON’T OVERLOOK DUKE! HIS RECENT VOLUNTEER INTERACTION TELLS A DIFFERENT STORY. Duke has behavior notes from the shelter, including barking, growling, and lunging at the kennel door. Staff have also reported difficulty safely handling him. However, a volunteer recently went into his kennel, offered him a treat, and Duke responded by giving her his paw and showing affection! ❤️🐾 This positive interaction matters. Duke may be struggling with the stress and fear of the shelter environment, and his behavior may look very different when someone takes the time to build trust with him. His behavior has not been consistent across every interaction. One observation even noted that he settled when offered a treat and responded to a request to sit. 🙏 DUKE NEEDS SOMEONE WILLING TO GIVE HIM A CHANCE. At just 1 year old, this young boy needs a rescue, foster, or experienced adopter willing to work with him patiently and safely, allowing him time to decompress and build trust. 🏡 Can you help Duke? 📍 Dallas Animal Services 1818 N. Westmoreland Rd., Dallas, TX 75212 📧 RESCUE: dasrescue@dallas.gov 📧 FOSTER: dasfoster@dallas.gov 📧 ADOPT: dasadopt@dallas.gov Please include a callback number when contacting DAS. ⏰ PLACEMENT DEADLINE: OCTOBER 10 AT 11 AM CST 💔 Duke is only a year old. A volunteer saw a softer side of him when she spent time with him, and he offered her his paw. Please help get his story in front of a rescue that can give him the opportunity he deserves. #dogs #pets #animals #pitbull #dallas
