I was ready to post this one exactly as written, but the fact-check makes the current story so much better. 😂 First: the photo in this meme is NOT Barack Obama’s official White House portrait. It’s a photograph taken by Dan Winters in 2016. Obama’s actual official portrait is Robert McCurdy’s striking photorealistic painting of him standing against a plain white background. And Trump didn’t permanently prevent its unveiling. He did break with modern tradition by not hosting an Obama portrait ceremony during his first term, but President Joe Biden ultimately welcomed Barack and Michelle Obama back to the White House for the official unveiling on September 7, 2022. BUT WAIT, because apparently this story needed a sequel. After returning to office, Trump replaced Obama’s prominent portrait location in the White House Grand Foyer with a painting of himself raising his fist after the 2024 assassination attempt. Obama’s portrait was initially moved elsewhere in the foyer. Then it got moved AGAIN—to the top of the Grand Staircase near the private presidential residence, an area generally not accessible to public White House tours. So the original meme is wrong. The actual story is: Obama’s portrait WAS unveiled. It WAS prominently displayed. And Trump later had it moved out of public view. I swear sometimes fact-checking the meme doesn’t ruin the joke. It adds footnotes to the punchline. 😭 #BarackObama #DonaldTrump #WhiteHouse #PoliticalSatire #USPolitics
