There is, however, a tiny little detail worth discussing: international tourists are allowed to choose where they spend their money. If your government spends months antagonizing Canada, launching trade fights, threatening tariffs and generally making Canadians feel unwelcome, some Canadians may respond in the most capitalist way imaginable: They take their vacation money somewhere else. And Florida has historically benefited enormously from Canadian visitors. So when tourism numbers soften, asking “How could this happen?” while ignoring the political and economic environment is quite a choice. You wanted the free market. Congratulations.
