To make 2 sandwiches - 2 ciabatta 4 slices gouda cheese For steak - 400g steak, I used a 2cm thick sirloin Pinch salt & pepper 1/2 oxo stock cube For onions - 1 tbsp butter 3 onions sliced Pinch salt & pepper For dip - 3 garlic cloves minced 1 beef stock pot 300ml water 1 tbsp hendersons relish 2 tsp thyme 1 tbsp pepper Remove the steak from the fridge 30 minutes before cooking to bring to room temperature. To a pan add the butter & onions then brown off on a medium heat for 5 minutes. Reduce down the heat add the pan lid then leave on the heat for 20 minutes. Add the salt & pepper then cook for another 5 minutes until completely soft & caramelised. To another pan add the garlic then cook for 2 minutes on a medium heat. Add the stock pot, water, relish & thyme then bring to a simmer. Reduce the heat down the low & leave to simmer whilst you cook the steak. Season the steak with salt, pepper, stock cube & a drizzle olive oil. Bring a pan to a medium heat then add the steak. For a medium rare cook for 4 minutes on one side then turn & cook for another 3 minutes on the other side then render any fat for another 1 minute. Adjust timings if you have a thinner steak. Remove the steak from the pan then leave to rest for 5 minutes. Whilst the steak is resting add the cheese to ciabatta then cook in the airfryer for 5 minutes at 180C or 10 minutes in the oven at 190C. Slice up the steak then add to the ciabatta & top with the onions. Serve with the sauce on the side for dipping. … … … Date night ideas dinner ideas dinner inspo mid week meals
