The hardest medical schools in the country aren’t always the ones you expect. These rates are matriculants ÷ applicants from the most recent published cycle. That is how many applicants actually sit in the first-year class — not how many got an offer. A few things most lists get wrong: • NYU Long Island is not NYU Grossman. It’s a 24-seat, 3-year program. • GW and Albany look brutal because tens of thousands apply, not because the academic bar matches Stanford. • Stanford is the first school on this list that is both tiny-class and elite-stats. • Official “acceptance rates” (offers ÷ applicants) are higher. Mayo publishes about 3.5%. NYU Grossman publishes about 2.5%. Lowest percentage ≠ hardest statistically on MCAT/GPA. Lowest percentage = fewest seats relative to who applied.
