Replying to @teza many people don’t realize that the struggle Native American and indigenous people have endured so have the Irish. Famine, displacements, colonialism, etc. but the biggest difference is that Native American and indigenous people in the United States are still actively fighting against colonialism fighting for Landbeck fighting to keep treaties from continuing to be broken native women still are in an MMIW crisis and we have the highest rates of experiencing violence and harm we have the least access to healthcare and mental health services. Many natives live in food deserts. Many natives do not have access to clean water or running water. And while anyone can put on a costume and dress up as another race or identity, Native American indigenous people cannot take off our identity at the end of Halloween, but we still have to face the hardships, the generational trauma, and the atrocities that are still going on today because it’s not a 400 year-old issue and we need to consider that when we’re choosing what we want to be for Halloween. Because if you can take off the struggle, why would you wanna put it on to begin with? #nativeamerican #IndigenousTikTok #nativetiktok #halloween
