You should never email two people at the same time. So for the example of the email, you're working on a project and you need to know the deadline. And so you email your team and you include a few people at the front and you ask, when is the deadline? The problem with that email is who is supposed to answer? Because they all feel like they're supposed to answer. Nobody answers. So instead, if you need something specific from one person to respond, call that person out specifically that you want to answer the question. If you have multiple things to ask related to that same topic and they need to be directed to different people, just make sure within that email and you call them out specifically to answer that question. Also, this could be a great place to use the to line and the CC line. If you're looking at the to line, that's who the email is actually for and you want to respond. And if you're looking at the CC line, that's just someone that you want to keep updated on the email, but not necessarily someone you're asking a question to.
