We all know that Emma Grede is the brains behind Skims and Good American. But what about the other celebrity brands? Let's take Rhode. Now, Hailey is the face, but their CEO is Nick Vlahos. He was previously the CEO of the Honest Company and the COO of the Clorox Company. In other words, that's a killer CPG resume. Then there's Rare beauty. Selena is the founder, but the CEO has been Scott Friedman, and he previously ran NYX cosmetics. And then you've got Khloud, which is Khloe Kardashian's popcorn brand. They brought in Jeff Rubenstein to run it. He was the former President of Poppi. One exception that I really respect is Emma Chamberlain with her coffee brand. She is the co-CEO of Chamberlain coffee along with her former COO. So sometimes the talent really is in the driver's seat. But that's the exception. Most of the time, these brands are successful not just because they have a name attached to it. They do well because there's some serious operational muscle behind the scenes. So next time you see a celebrity brand blowing up, the real question is, who's running the business behind the scenes? Let me know if you want a part two on the people behind other celebrity brands.
