Jack Dorsey fires 40% of Block staff because of AI. Exactly what to do next if you're afraid of being next. The announcement basically was, we're crushing it, we're profitable, but all these people are replaceable because of AI. That was basically the message. Everybody's freaking out and I'm going to explain as someone who's been building an AI native company for the last 12 months, exactly what you should do if you feel that fear that most people are feeling, that myself, I feel. Like what you should do about that. First of all, Block stock popped 24%, right? What do you think all of the investors, the VCs, like anyone who has a financial interest motivated by capitalism is doing to their companies? They're all going, they're telling the founder, Jack Dorsey just fired half his company and he's saying that we can achieve the same output. When are you going to do that? That is what's going to happen, right? So what I think is there are really just two groups of people and the divide between these two groups of people is going to be massive. So group one are AI native, people who are using these tools as arbitrage opportunity. Either they work for a tech company and they're just so productive and they're such a superhuman that they're incredibly valuable, or they're entrepreneurs and they're using AI arbitrage to just have incredible margins and build businesses around AI. Right, that's group one. And then group two are people who are going to get replaced by someone from group one who uses AI really well, maybe combines that with some sort of offshoring because there's still pieces of the process that don't, they don't fully connect. There needs to be some sort of human in the loop. So what can you do? Like, you have to become part of group one. You have to, it's so urgent because again, like all these investors, they're all going to go to the founders of the companies and they're going to demand them to get more productive with less human resources. So to become part of group one, like if you aren't talk, like actually talking to AI all day, you're doing it wrong. Like you need to learn Claude, you need to learn Claude Code. You need to use Whisper to talk to your computer and your phone all day. You need to use SLM tools like Octo. If you work in marketing or creative strategy, you need to use tools like Snowball for scraping the internet, you need to use Perplexity. You just need to get really good at prompting. You need to know how to use Higgsfield. This is just the modern skill set. And I still get so frustrated when I see people unable to, like, move faster or use these tools as part of their workflow because it's like, do you see what's happening? So if this isn't like the moment where you just decide, I'm not a group two person, I'm a group one, I'm either going to get rich building a business using AI arbitrage, become this indispensable person at a larger company because I'm so good at all these tools, then I don't know what else you do. You have to be part of group one. That's the only option.
