Let's break down my February income as a 22 year old software engineer in New York City. This month I earned $20,310.06. I had a stock vest at $8,317.01. $11,950 in base pay, which is slightly inflated because I reimbursed some wellness expenses this month. And I got $43.34 from a theme park lawsuit that actually increases every year. Since I have a significant amount in savings I front load all of my paycheck into my pre tax 401k and mega backdoor Roth. So my pre tax deductions were $7,968.46, with a dollar 38 going to dental, $30 for my medical insurance, and 92 cents for my vision plan. The rest was pre tax 401k. I paid $5,492.38 in taxes, leaving me with a take home pay of $6,800 this month.
