we've normalized outsourcing our sense of self to other people or to the internet or to algorithms and we've forgotten how to actually get to know ourselves so well that it doesn't even occur to us to ask for other people's opinions on the smallest little things that really only you should know for yourself if you're someone that's always asking other people should I get a haircut should I wear this today is this good is that good chances are you weren't always like that because when we're kids we tend to have such a strong sense of and such a strong sense of what we like we're like I'm gonna wear this today or I'm gonna throw a tantrum and it doesn't occur does this look nice should we don't second guess ourselves because our natural state is to know and to value our own taste and our own knowledge of ourselves but we lose that very easily along the way and it happens almost to everyone and I think it's very easy almost your whole life without you've lost this connection to yourself and started valuing external validation and external opinions of who you should and what you should like more than your internal ones so if you feel like that's you you can start by catching yourself every time that you're about to ask for the smallest little thing you could decide for yourself and then go on to bigger things if you're always second guessing yourself when it comes to career relationship relationship choices no one outside of you can really give you a because no one is you they can give you their opinions but the most aligned answer that's going to lead to something that you really like and feel most secure and most right in is gonna be the answer that comes from you so how can you spend more time cultivating that relationship with yourself so that you can figure out what that voice is actually saying catch yourself nice time you're about to ask for someone's opinion on something that only concerns you because that's what's going to become really familiar with your actual self again with what you really like not what anyone else suggests you should like after a point once you've practiced that enough everything starts because the most important type of validation to you internal validation any other external validation feels nice to have but it doesn't drive you and the sense of self that you develop once you honestly feels better than anything else
