Does your life make sense to you? Or just to everyone else? I think the happiest people with the most fulfilled lives are building lives that don't necessarily make sense to other people. They might be unconventional to other people, they might be opposing trends or not what people expect, but it makes sense to them. They're following their own internal compass. Someone recently told me that if you know your values, every decision is easy. It's deeply human to want to be accepted, for your choices to be understood, but that can really easily sway into other people's opinions or wanting validation, especially now in this time where we might put more importance on how happiness is perceived by proving to people that we're happy, rather than actually being happy. We want to impress others so much that we actually sacrifice our own satisfaction. The advice I'd give if you feel like you don't know your values is to really hone and own the things that make you who you are, because your values are still there, you just need to rediscover them. And what makes people the most attractive, the most interesting, is what makes them uniquely them. Get back in touch with the things that you enjoyed as a kid before you were told what was cool, what was impressive, what was worth posting about. Follow that compass and you'll build a life that you don't need to explain away, but you're the leader of your life and it feels right to you.
